The Team That Keeps Us Flying

Behind Wills Wing is a small but deeply committed team driven by a shared respect for the sport and the people who make it possible. Every glider that leaves our workshop, every design decision, and every conversation with pilots and schools reflects a hands-on approach built on care, experience, and pride in what we do.

We believe that strong teamwork, clear communication, and close attention to detail are what truly make the difference, both in the air and on the ground. Our work goes beyond building gliders. We focus on listening, supporting, and staying connected to our community, whether someone is taking their first steps into hang gliding or has been flying for years.

At Wills Wing, we operate with a practical, honest mindset and a long-term commitment to quality and safety. Each member of our team shares the same passion for flight and the responsibility to do things right, offering not just reliable equipment, but real support at every step of the journey.

Meet the Team Behind Wills Wing

Al Jeffery | Chairman

New Zealand–born engineer, entrepreneur, and hang gliding pilot, Al fell in love with flight in the 1970s watching gliders soar over Coronet Peak. After earning a PhD in engineering and founding Bluestone (once Australia’s fastest-growing company), he returned to the sport in his 40s.

Now Chairman of Wills Wing, Al is focused on making hang gliding safer, lighter, and more accessible for the next generation, with a strong emphasis on innovation, quality, and community.

Rudy Gotés | CEO

Mexican hang gliding pilot, instructor, and world-class competitor, Rudy began flying at age 11 and has spent more than three decades in the sport. He has logged thousands of flights, competed internationally, and taught countless pilots the fundamentals of foot-launched flight.

As CEO of Wills Wing, Rudy leads manufacturing in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, overseeing design, testing, and production with a hands-on approach. Alongside Al, he drives the company’s mission to make hang gliding safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable for pilots worldwide.

Toby Seidel | Engineer

Toby’s obsession with flight started at age 10 when he built his first hang glider from plumbing pipe. He went on to earn a mechanical engineering degree from Northeastern University in 2025, gaining hands-on experience in aerospace and deep-sea research along the way.

As an engineer at Wills Wing, Toby focuses on safe and efficient manufacturing while working to refine current designs and develop new ones. Based in Valle de Bravo, he flies every chance he gets, sharpening his skills in the air to become a better engineer on the ground.

Jose Manuel Gotés | Safety & Quality Control Manager

Hang gliding competitor and commercial aviation veteran, Jose Manuel began flying at age 16 alongside his father and brother Rudy. He went on to compete at the 1985 World Championships in Kossen, Austria, and built a distinguished career as a commercial airline pilot, retiring in 2025 with nearly 18,000 flight hours.
Jose Manuel brings nearly five decades of aeronautical expertise to Wills Wing, leading safety and quality control to ensure every glider meets the highest standards.

Monica Spaventa | Operations & Flight School Coordinator

With a background spanning administration, logistics, and customer service, Monica has spent several years ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes at Wills Wing. She is currently focused on the promotion and logistics of the Wills Wing Flight School, helping craft a complete experience for pilots and visitors in Valle de Bravo.
Her years in cultural and experience-based tourism shape the way she connects with people, making every pilot, beginner or experienced, feel welcome, confident, and excited from the very first interaction.
