Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience?
For the Zero to Hero beginner course, no prior experience is needed. We’ll teach you everything from scratch. For Pilot Progression and Guided Tours, you’ll need appropriate hang gliding certification.
What if weather conditions aren’t suitable?
Valle de Bravo has remarkably consistent flying weather, but if conditions require schedule adjustments, we’ll adapt the program to maximize your learning and flying time. For example, we may shift to ground school, simulator times, or later flying windows to maximize your learning and airtime.
What should I bring?
Comfortable athletic clothing, closed-toe shoes with good grip, layers for warmth morning / evening, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure. We provide all flying equipment.
What about accommodation?
Accommodation isn’t included in the course price. You’re free to choose the place that best fits your budget and comfort level using services like Airbnb or Booking.com. Share your budget and whether you prefer to be close to launch, town, or the lake, and we’ll point you toward options our pilots have liked.
Can I buy a glider after the course?
Absolutely! We offer Graduate Bundles with promotional pricing on Falcon gliders, harnesses, and helmets. Your first annual inspection is included, plus a welcome pack.
How fit do I need to be?
You should be in reasonable physical condition – able to jog down a gentle slop while carrying the glider. Maximum weight limit: 110 kg (240 lbs) for most courses. Specific fitness requirements vary by course level.
Is hang gliding dangerous?
Like any adventure sport, hang gliding involves risk. However, modern equipment, proven training methods, and experienced instruction make it far safer than most people imagine. There are pilots with over 60,000 flights recorded without incident and many commercial airline pilots spend their spare time hang gliding. Many incidents relate to poor pilot decisions, and our syllabus is designed to mitigate these risks.
